Area residents find meaningful ways to celebrate the coming of Easter while social distancing
Easter morning brought a bittersweet realization for so many area residents and church-goers.
The traditions of large family gatherings, uplifting church services and community Easter egg hunts weren’t on the table this year.
Instead folks were tasked with carving out new ways to celebrate the Holy day amidst social distancing restrictions.
Many found ways to make the day special regardless. Pictured at left, Arabelle and Ivy Johnson share their cuteness on Easter morning.
Mindy Meier, pastor of the First Congregational Church, was one of the members of the Eddy County Ministerial Association who saw a great opportunity to bring people together, all while staying at least six feet apart.
The journey began with a parade, but not just one parade, three miniature parades. Two of these fun-filled faith-based displays were in New Rockford, traveling up and down the streets.
In the top photo below, Lora Wobbema captured a sighting of the Easter Bunny as the parade went down Third Avenue South in New Rockford. A third group carried the spirit of the parade throughout Sheyenne as well.
After the parade, people from all churches and backgrounds were encouraged to partake in an Easter gathering held in the St. John’s Catholic Church parking lot.
