News is pretty hard to come by with people staying home for the most part. Everyone is looking forward to the freedom to go and do what we want.

Bobbi and Donna Grann competed in a “COVID-19” barrel race on Sunday in Menoken, N.D. Johnny Grann and Stephen Merrick went to Velva on Friday to pick up a new goat for Lacey.

Doris Griffin reported that one of her geese started sitting on six eggs Sunday. It takes 29 to 31 days for goose eggs to hatch. Three or four eggs could be hatched under a setting hen and 10-12 under a goose. Both mother and father are very protective of the nest and also the young once hatched. Geese mate for life.

Melodee and Terry Thompson and Randy and Charlotte Simon traveled to Grand Forks Sunday to visit Carson and Heidi Thompson and children Max and Elin. They spent a few hours reconnecting while respecting distancing. They visited on the deck. They also flew kites.

Lester Roberts is playing CDs providing entertainment for his neighbors. Lester spoke to Don Knutson in Arizona Sunday. They visited about “this and that.” Chad Getscher called Lester one day this week. Lester talked to his daughter, Bobbi Duberowski on Sunday. She said that they had attended church services in their car in the parking lot. The pastor stood on a flatbed so he could be seen, the people tuned their car radios to a certain station and the service was heard that way. Could this work for graduation ceremonies?

Lezlee Thorson also keeps in touch with her dad via telephone.

Piper Hegland, Jake and Amanda’s daughter, received a wheelchair this week. Her physical therapist, Jodi Tjelta worked with Shriners Hospital in Minneapolis to line it up. It will be great for her to use it and be able to be outside this spring and summer. On Friday, Amanda and the girls helped Jake work some cows. On Saturday, the Hegland’s enjoyed some curbside concessions from the Rockford Theater in New Rockford.

Paul and Carrie Prince picked up some groceries for Dave and Linda Madson on Friday. They also took the Madson’s puppy, Morgan, for a several days visit to help with teaching him some manners. McKenzee Madson helped Grandpa and Grandma Madson with some yard work on Sunday. It is very much appreciated.

Words to Remember: The person who takes responsibility on his shoulders isn’t likely to have a chip there.
