Obituary: Norma Neumiller

Norma K. Neumiller, 94, of rural Carrington, died Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at her daughter and son-in-law's home, where she resided. Family funeral services were held Friday, May 15 at Evans Funeral Home in Carrington. Rev. Corey Pepple officiated the service. Burial was at the Carrington Cemetery. Casket bearers were all of Norma's grandchildren and great-grandchildren

Norma was born on Jan. 26, 1926, the daughter of Earl and Gladys (Foulston) Purcell in Rosehill Township, Stutsman County, N.D. Norma attended the Rosehill Township country school and then lived with her Aunt Sis and Uncle Cap Bus in Omaha, Neb., for her teaching certificate. Norma returned to North Dakota and taught at a country school in the Woodworth Area. Norma met Henry when she was teaching school and he worked for Farmers Union delivering fuel.

On Jan. 20, 1949, Norma was united in marriage to Henry Neumiller in Terry, Mont. They lived in Carrington for a short time until they bought a farm in 1951, in Stutsman County where they farmed and raised cattle and sheep.

Norma was a persistent caretaker of all the farm animal babies that struggled to nurse and get on their feet. There were many baby lambs and a few calves brought into the house to be nursed to health before they could be moved back to the barn with their mother.

She is survived by one son, Roderick (Jennifer) Neumiller, Hayden, Colo .; two daughters: Linda (Mike) Christensen and Roberta (Brad) Reisnour, both of Carrington; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother Donald (Kathy)Purcell of Big Timber, Mont .; one sister, Sheila O'Conell, Big Timber, Mont .; two sister-in-laws Carrie Purcell, Carrington, N.D., and Carolyn Purcell, Livingston, Mont. one brother-in-law Cort Strobel, Big Timber, Mont., and many nieces and nephews.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband Henry, five brothers: Rawleigh, Clayton, Wallace, Bruce and infant Henry Samuel Purcell; Four sisters: Rosemary, Juanita, Doris, and Barbara. Her parents, Earl and Gladys. Seven brother-in-law's Dave Myrstol, Virgil Hennings, Art Vraa, Bob O'Conell, Albert Auer, Ray Tracey and Fred Sands.
