Presnell is youngest worker to be named Employee of the Month

Andrew Presnell is the kind of young man who knows how to look forward to something. For years, he looked forward to the day he could get his first job.

"Since October 6, 2018" he recalled when asked how long he'd been working at Miller's Fresh Food. He went on to share that even as a young boy, he just knew that his first job would be as a grocery packer.

It's a position that has afforded Andrew many learning experiences and has endowed him with many skills. Besides learning how to properly pack delicate foods, Andrew says he has gained a lot from chatting with customers while packing their groceries. On Sundays, Andrew further advances his people skills by working the cash register.

One of the recent responsibilities that Andrew has taken on is the implementation of the rigorous cleaning schedule set forth by Miller's Fresh Foods in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19. It's a task that Andrew says he doesn't really mind. "It helps keep everyone safe," he says.

Andrew also puts in a few hours each week at Central Pharmacy as a student worker, where he gets more experience cleaning.

When asked about the future, Andrew seems to have it all figured out, a rather impressive feat for a high school junior. After graduation, Andrew says he will enroll in the Peace Officer Training Program offered by Lake Region State College. He adds, "I've always wanted to serve and protect."

In the meantime, Andrew expects to put in a lot of hours working. He's already managed to save up for a car. When he's not working or cruising around this summer, Andrew will likely be hanging out with friends.
