COVID-19 Testing event questions answered

Eddy County Public Information Officer Tiffany Harr released more details Tuesday about the upcoming mass testing event.

Eddy County residents will have the opportunity to receive COVID-19 testing at a drive-up testing on Wednesday, June 10 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. in New Rockford. The testing will take place at the Eddy County Fairgrounds west of New Rockford.

Participants are asked to enter on the west side of the fairgrounds and to remain in the vehicle. Up to four people will be allowed to be tested per vehicle, as long as each person is sitting by a window. Please note, participants must be 18 years or older to receive testing.

Each person who desires to be tested should fill out the attached intake form and bring it with along when coming for testing. https://www.newrockfordtranscript.com/home/cms_data/dfault/pdfs/misc/2020-06-08.pdf

There are 225 tests available at this event, and they will be administered on a first come, first serve basis. Each individual seeking testing should have the attached form filled out and ready to hold up to the window for staff. Participants are encouraged to wear a mask.

A new COVID-19 case was reported in Eddy County as of Sunday, June 7. As the other four positive individuals have recovered, is a single active case currently. Everyone is reminded to maintain a regular hand washing practice, use hand sanitizer, wear a mask in public settings and practice social distancing. Our state is currently in a "low risk" stage for COVID-19, per the governor. Low risk does not mean no risk.
