Coming off their last game against Devils Lake, this Babe Ruth Black Sox team is looking a lot better than they did in their debut against Cando.
Through the first couple innings it was a close game as the teams were tied at two at the end of the second.
In the third inning was when the Sox were able to deny the Eagles from getting any runs with three perfect strikeouts thrown by DJ Mudgett. Then they took advantage of their well-executed defense to score two runs in the third to break the tie.
At the top of the fourth the Eagles desperately tried to even the score up once again, managing to score one run. Although they had a runner on second that was looking to make his way to home plate, the Black Sox defense made some great plays that led to a tag out flipping the field and putting the Sox at the plate ready to bat. At the bottom of the fourth the Sox were aware that they were in a close game, and if they didn't perform at a high level then the game may end up too close for comfort.
With this mindset the Sox went on an amazing streak where they scored a total of eight runs. The runs were a result of great hits, stolen bases, and dropped balls by the Harvey Eagles defense. There were seven different Sox players that scored this inning, including Alex Weisenburger. He was the first and last player to score in the inning. In the fifth and final inning the Black Sox were able to continue their successful defense by allowing no runs. At the bottom of the fifth the locals were able to squeeze in one more run by Trevor Waldo to end the game. Waldo was the leading scorer for the Black Sox with three total runs, one in each the third, fourth and fifth.
The final score was 13-3. This Black Sox team proved that they shouldn't be judged off their first game by showing they can win games and by a lot.
