Fresh off their amazing victory against Carrington, the SNR Black Sox looked to build momentum with another win against Cando on Wednesday, June 10.
The first inning was pretty even with one run scored on each side. Cando seemed like a good match for our Black Sox…and then the second inning started.
After the back and forth first inning, the ‘Sox didn’t hold back as they made three amazing plays and were able to get three outs in quick succession. Once the Sox got ahold of the bat they immediately took advantage of Cando’s defense, scoring four runs, one each by Koven Walford, Alex Harrison, Nathan Holzwarth and Bo Belquist.
The ‘Sox then kept the game from getting too close with three strike outs at the top of the third inning. At the bottom of the third, the Sox are able to score once more off of Koven Walford’s second run of the game. Once again the Black Sox were able to shut Cando down with no runs at the top of the fourth, but were unsuccessful as well at the bottom of the fourth.
It wasn’t until the bottom of the fifth that the Sox scored again. Koven Walford brought in his third run of the game, Bo Belquist scored his second and Kaden Jensen got his first run.
In the sixth inning both teams played great defense. At the top of the seventh and final inning, Cando was finally able to get some runs off as they scored two to end the game. The final score was 9-3 in favor of the locals.
Top scorer for the Black Sox was Koven Walford, as he dominated with three total runs. The Black Sox improved to 2-0 on the season.
