Talk of the Town: July 20, 2020

Tuesday visitor at the Shirley Packard home was Calvin Packard. Saturday visitor and helper was Todd Harrison, and Friday visitor and cleaner was Mary Gehrtz. Janet Laube got an unexpected but welcome visitor one day when grandson David Youle of Mandan came riding up on his Harley. They enjoyed their visit, including dinner at the cafe and a country drive in Grampa Leo’s pickup. Janet also received a phone call from niece Shelly Nelson of Oklahoma one evening.

Grilled burgers and weenies were enjoyed along with a potluck patio picnic supper Sunday at the Todd and Karen Koepplin farm. Those who enjoyed the evening were Martin and Janelle Koepplin, Aaron and Danielle Koepplin, Kerigan, Carter and Chevelle, Taylor and Amanda Koepplin and Evelyn Jo, Kenna Lewis and Charlotte Koepplin. Allyssa Lewis and Grady came later. All enjoyed visiting and found out who was best at a game of cornhole.

Friday visitor at the Ken and Marvis Holte home was Amanda Bickett.

Early Wednesday morning, Janet Laube and Yip Yip were on their way to Jamestown, where Yip Yip had a dental appointment. Former New Rockford resident and neighbor to Janet drove from her home in Valley City to Jamestown and met Janet for breakfast. Then the gals proceeded to do some shopping and drive around town, enjoying more conversation over dinner. Early afternoon Jeannie returned to Valley City, and Janet picked up Yip Yip. He was a bit sleepy yet, but was ready to go home.

Saturday the phone was busy at the Ken and Marvis Holte home. Marvis’ brother, Corey Birkholz called from his home in Grand Forks and her sister, Andy Yates, of Arkansas called. Both just were checking on how each was and catching on family comings and goings due to COVID-19.

Trisha McMonagle, Wylie and Zaylie returned to their home after a couple days over the Fourth of July as house guests at mom and dad’s, Martin and Janelle Koepplin.

Janelle Koepplin celebrated her birthday July 11, with phone calls and cards from family and friends.
