On Friday, July 10, the Black Sox Independent team looked to avenge their prior loss against Rolla. Last time these two faced one another, Rolla came out on top 2-1.
In the first inning, Black Sox Alex Harrison made quick work of Rolla's batters with three outs. Rolla held their ground as they didn't allow any Black Sox runs.
In the second inning is when the Sox began to dominate with three runs by Koby Duda, Colter Solderholm and Koven Walford. The Black Sox continued the pressure on Rolla by denying any runs at the top of the third.
The scoring continued with a run by Nathan Holzwarth late in the third inning.
The fourth inning was scoreless as Rolla was able to keep the Sox from continuing their scoring run.
The fifth inning saw Koby Duda scoring once more becoming the scoring leader of the game.
Still playing well on defense, The Sox took advantage and scored one last run at the bottom of the sixth off of Johnny Grann's run.
The final score: New Rockford shut out Rolla with six total runs. The biggest strength for SNR was its ability to play amazing defense and keep the opponent from scoring. Their league record on the season stands at 8-3.
