T-Ball and Coach Pitch: Wednesday Home Run Bonanza

On July 8, New Rockford's T-Ball team faced off against Carrington. It was a home run bonanza, as many defenders failed to field fast enough to get the out.

Carrington ended up having the most success in this matchup, as they were able stop the New Rockford Rockets from scoring more runs than they. It seemed that every player on both sides was able to score at least one run as the game lasted a total of five innings.

At this level of play, they don't keep score; the games are an opportunity for the youth to practice the fundamentals of baseball, such as hitting, base running, fielding and catching. The t-ball players have one evening game a week in the Tri-County T-Ball League. The seven-week schedule features four Carrington teams and two New Rockford teams. Their regular season ends this week, with home games for both New Rockford teams at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22. All teams will participate in the league tournament on July 29 in Carrington.

After t-ball, The New Rockford Coach Pitch team took the field against Carrington. They started off strong with five straight runs in the first inning. They continued their success for the next four innings, playing well on defense as well.

Carrington was able to put some runs together but could not recover from the pressure that the Sox were putting on. The final score was 13-7, a phenomenal performance by the New Rockford Black Sox working great as a team.
