Babe Ruth
Thursday, July 16 the New Rockford Babe Ruth team took on Devils Lake. Both teams appeared to bring their A-game at the offset. In the first inning Devils Lake struck first with one run. The Black Sox came back and scored a run of their own from Connor Knatterud to tie up the game at the end of the first inning.
In the second inning, Devils Lake found lots of success as they were able to score four runs and build a lead. Unfortunately the Sox were unable to answer back, as they couldn't match the runs that Devils Lake achieved. In the third inning it was an offensive stalemate as neither team was able to score.
The Black Sox showed some fight in the fourth, as they didn't allow Devils Lake to increase the deficit and also scored two runs of their own to keep the game close. Hunter Jacobson and Kadon Hilbert were behind the Black Sox runs. The fifth inning saw Devils Lake taking back control of the game and scoring three more runs to diminish the hopes of the Black Sox. The locals kept playing hard but weren't able to score in the sixth inning and gave up another run to their opponent. DJ Mudgett added one to the home team's tally in the seventh and final Inning, but it wasn't enough for the win. Devils Lake prevailed 9-4.
