Oberon Oracles: August 3, 2020

Thursday, Lester Roberts joined relatives, brother Roger, sisters Jean Olson and Delores Stack, cousin, Arnold Johnson of Coco, Fla., and niece, Sharon and her husband, Jerry at Lake Country Manor in Devils Lake. They had a special area where they could social distance and visit and enjoy their time together.

Lester visited Chad Getscher on Friday.

Saturday, Lester visited his daughter, Lezlee Thorson at her lake lot.

Holly Zieman and Lola Heer of Jamestown visited James Nelson on Sunday.

Doris Griffin attended a meeting of the First District Health Unit in Devils Lake Monday night. Following the meeting, she joined the Devils Lake Carvers.

Barnyard news this week: The guineas are not having much success in hatching their eggs. On these very hot days, mamma and poppa goose stand so they can provide shade for the babies. I have learned many new things about the behavior of Doris’ flock and find it very interesting.

Monday evening Linda Madson enjoyed supper at the Cove with friends and former co-workers at Ramsey County Social Services, Brenda Hoime, Judy Hager, Kathy McGarvey and Cindy Quam. We all enjoyed catching up on how everyone is coping with their work and life changes.

Saturday afternoon, Carrie Prince visited Dave and Linda and was kind enough to do some grocery shopping and save us a trip to the store.

Sunday, Linda attended services at Calvary Lutheran Church in Oberon. Following services, Linda spent the afternoon with Carrie and Paul and their guests, Clair and Vonda Antonson.

Amanda Hegland’s parents, Terry and Nancy Weischedel, spent the weekend with Amanda, Jake, Fallyn and Piper. On Saturday, they celebrated an early birthday for Fallyn with her cousins and grandparents. A water slide was set up for the kids and everyone just tried to stay cool.

Elisa, Joe and Maynard Wentz visited the Buehler families over the weekend.

Deb and Joel Hjelseth and Kasper of Chattanooga, Tenn., spent a week visiting the Buehler families. While there, they celebrated Deb’s birthday. Happy belated birthday, Deb.

Grace Ihry joined the Buehler families Saturday and Sunday.

Randy and Charlotte Simon dropped by for a visit at Todd and Nadley’s farm Sunday evening.

Calvary Lutheran in Oberon will have services on the second and fourth Sundays in August.

Thought to Remember: Growing old is easy. The hard part is growing up.
