Oberon Oracles: August 17, 2020

Croix Jacob Lee Hegland, son of Jake and Amanda, was born on July 31 in Fargo. He weighed 9 lbs 3 oz. Baby and mom are doing well. Fallyn and Piper are so excited to be big sisters and love to help and hold him. Congratulations!

Lester Roberts visited his daughter, Lezlee Thorson at her lake lot on Wednesday.

Lester visited with Chad Getscher on Friday.

Saturday, Lester, his sisters, Jean Olson and Delores Stack from Minot, June Sabbe, her daughter, Misti Sabbe and granddaughter, Carrie Opdahl; cousin Arnold Johnson, and Arnold’s nephew, Bob all got together at Roger Roberts’ home. They spent their time together outdoors, had coffee and visited.

Doris Griffin took garden produce to the Farmer’s Market in Sheyenne on Saturday. There were very few there because New Rockford was having a city-wide rummage sale. She concluded that the Farmer’s Market doesn’t stand a chance against a city-wide rummage sale.

Doris’ barnyard news this week: Another guinea hen hatched out several babies, but Doris was only able to rescue four of them. Mama guinea was VERY protective and of course, did not want Doris to take her chicks But, guinea hens don’t pay attention when one baby gets behind or lost and they don’t survive. So that is why Doris takes them away. The babies are very curious so when Doris put a cricket in with them, they hid and watched it and finally one would come out and look and then go back to hide. Eventually, they all would venture out after deciding it was safe to eat.

Ben Grann judged the Jr. High School rodeo in Bismarck on Saturday and Sunday. Brittany joined him Sunday to watch a day of rodeo.

Lacey and Johnny Grann attended the memorial gathering for New Rockford-Sheyenne teacher, Mr. Johnston, at the golf course Friday.

Tom Wetzel was a Sunday morning visitor at the Grann residence.

Fritz Wetzel told Carrie Prince that he could see everything that’s going on when he has to go to the top of the Oberon elevator so she should beware.

Saturday evening, Dave, Linda, Melodie and Kennedee Madson and Amy Jacobson enjoyed supper at the picnic table in Dave and Linda’s backyard.

Though to Remember: Striving for success without hard work is like trying to harvest where you haven’t planted.
