Oberon Oracles: Sept. 28, 2020

Bobbi Grann spent the weekend in Bowman, N.D. competing at “The Blitz” barrel racing event.

Lacey Grann ran in the 5K race in Maddock on Saturday morning as part of the Renaissance Festival.

Saturday was a fun day as family and friends of Brittany Grann attended her baby shower in Sheyenne.

Ashton Hedger and her daughter, Ramsey from Langdon, N.D. visited the Grann residence after the baby shower on Saturday.

Johnny Rice and Dave Kenner of Maddock visited Todd Buehler this week.

Breana Buehler Pacheco, Mavis and Waylon of Watford City spent the weekend at the Buehler farm. While at home, she visited Bria and Brittin Buehler Saturday afternoon.

Breana took her dad, Todd Buehler for a drive to Maddock Saturday to look at the decorated bales.

Beau, Bria and Brittin joined Todd, Nadley, Hunter and Breana for a birthday brunch celebrating Breana’s birthday on Sunday.

Lester Roberts, Midge Quam, Rita Waldorn and Helen Ridley went for a Sunday drive. They drove to Maddock and toured the decorated bales and then on to Oberon for a quick tour, out to Lester’s farm, a visit to Sheyenne and then back to Devils Lake and supper at Applebee’s.

Doris Griffin’s guinea hen that was on her nest last week hatched out nine babies. Doris took all of them to the house to be sure they survived.

The guinea hen that has the one chick and her two friends to help her take care of it are all doing very well. The baby isn’t as big as the ones she took in, but he has to pretty much fend for itself.

Doc Throlson told Doris that apples are mature when the seeds are brown. The sun turns the apples red, but that doesn’t mean they are ripe and ready to pick and since he said it, it is true.

Last Sunday afternoon, Charlotte and a group of ladies decorated the Coffee House for the “God Bless America” presented for the Renaissance Festival in Maddock.

Tuesday, Randy and Charlotte attended grandson Jaxon Simon’s football game in Lakota. They also took in his game in New Rockford against Carrington on Thursday.

Wednesday afternoon, Charlotte visited her mother at the Care Center in Rugby. They meet in a special room set up for safe visits. It makes it difficult to not be able to do hugs or even be close.

Charlotte and a group of ladies from the Coffee House gathered at the Community Center in Maddock on Thursday to make pies to serve on Friday, pie day at the Coffee House at Harriman’s. They made juneberry, apple, lemon, banana cream and coconut cream. Sounds yummy.

Friday evening, Mark, Tessa, Mason and Miles Simon of Oxbow, N.D. and Heidi, Carson, Elin and Max Thompson of Grand Forks came to the Simon farm to spend the weekend.

Tessa, Heidi, Max, Elin, Mason and Miles ran in the 5K Harvest Dash. Mason, who is 5, ran the entire 3.1 miles. That is quite an accomplishment.

Following the race, they took in the corn maze, bale maze, kiddie train and pumpkin bowling.

A visit to the Tandeski Farm pumpkin patch was the next activity. Sounds like a very busy day for everyone.

Saturday evening, Lee, Amy, Easton and Jaxon Simon and Amy’s parents, Jeff and Barb Miller of Fergus Falls, Minn., joined the group for supper at Randy and Charlotte’s home.

Saturday evening, Dave and Linda Madson and Mr. Syl Brown joined Melodie Madson at her home for supper. Kennedee and McKenzee spent the weekend with their grandparents, Julie and Dennis Mertens.

Sunday afternoon, Linda enjoyed coffee time with Melodie on her deck.
