There are two new cooks in town, and they're making their mark on the local restaurant scene. Tony Waswick and fiance, Emily, are the mastermind behind Midnight Munchies, the newest place in New Rockford to grab some grub. They landed in New Rockford recently after a stint in Minot.
Midnight Munchies opened for business on Oct. 1, operating out of the kitchen at Buck-It's Bar in downtown New Rockford. The massive menu boasts stout sandwiches, wild wings and appealing appetizers. Patrons can even build their own burger, with a mishmash of add-ons available to suit any taste!
Each sandwich specialty has a personality of its own. Start with its namesake, the Midnight Munchie. It packs a 1/3 lb. seasoned beef patty, melted cheddar, chili, onion petals, beer cheese, and house sauce between two grilled cheese sandwiches!
There's even one especially for all the Amys in New Rockford (and we know there are several) - Amy's Cluckin' Porker! The foundation is a grilled chicken breast (of course!) on a garlic toasted bun. Then Tony piles on bacon and pulled pork, grilled onions and mushrooms, melted Swiss and house-made spicy ranch.
The couple gleaned goodies from right here at home when they put together the menu. The sausages and bacon all hail from McDonald's meats, which are available for sale at Buck-It's. The benefit here is that they are made to order, much more convenient than cooking them yourself!
The bread and buns are provided by Bakers Dozen, New Rockford's gem of a local bakery. John and Kelly McKnight's masterpiece garlic toasted buns, hoagie rolls and hot dog buns are in heaven here!
AND, With 10% of all menu item profits going to local food programs, such as the Hunger Free Food Pantry, there's even more reason to try this place out!
Open Thursday to Saturday from 5 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., this joint definitely caters to the bar crowd, and true to its name, will satisfy your late-night cravings. NFL fans, they've got you covered too! Midnight Munchies is open 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Sundays during the football season. On Monday nights, Buck-Its patrons can enjoy FREE chili with their drink order while supplies last.
