One killed in fiery rollover crash

An individual was killed in a one-vehicle crash in Eddy County on Monday, Oct. 19.

According to the N.D. Highway Patrol (NDHP), a 2015 Jeep Cherokee was traveling northbound on County Road 14 south of New Rockford at about 9:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19. As the vehicle traveled northbound, the vehicle went in both the east and west ditch, finally traveling mostly in the west ditch. The vehicle vaulted over an approach near 17th St NE, landed and began to roll.  

At some point during the rollover, the vehicle caught on fire, then came to rest facing south, southeast. The damage to the vehicle and the driver was extensive due to the fire, and the driver had not been publicly identified as of press time. The investigation is ongoing by the NDHP and Eddy County Sheriff’s Office.
