On October 26, students will resume full-time in-person instruction at New Rockford-Sheyenne School. All students enrolled in in-person learning will be in the classroom five days a week, from 8:35 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Robust sanitation and cleaning measures remain essential in reducing the transmission of the novel coronavirus, and will be an integral part of ensuring that students stay healthy. Two-ply fabric masks will continue to be required for all students and staff, but can be removed when classroom settings allow enough space for social distancing. Masks will continue to be worn at all times in communal places such as hallways and the lunchroom.
Plans are in place to allow some students to eat in the lunchroom, with respect for social distancing. To make this possible, other students will continue to enjoy their lunch in the classroom.
Amid these efforts to ensure student health, NR-S asks parents and guardians to keep students home when they are feeling ill for any reason.
High school students will be in session every day, moving from class to class as they typically would. Music will be incorporated back into the schedule, with necessary safety precautions in place which include use of bell covers and masks.
Elementary students will continue to be served in smaller sections. Grades 3-5 will continue to be split. In doing so, NR-S welcomes two new long-term subs Becki Schumacher and Jona Kvamme.
In a post to the school’s Facebook page, Superintendent Jill Louters stated, “This will be another big lift for the staff. We want to ensure that we maintain the safest environment possible; this includes cleaning, small groups in the elementary, and masks, however, recognize that our high school students need to be back for everyday instruction. We also want to respect the fact that some of our families are choosing distance learning. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school.”
