The Department of the Interior recently announced that it will make entrance into national parks, wildlife refuges, and other federal lands free for Gold Star families and military veterans, as well as fifth-graders and their families who were unable to use the Every Kid Outdoors Annual 4th Grade Pass.
“Our national parks and public lands are a venue for Americans to get outside and experience our rich heritage, and the ones in North Dakota are among the best in the nation,” said Senator Kevin Cramer. “I am thankful President Trump and Secretary Bernhardt value our national parks and public lands and want to increase access to them, especially for our nation’s best and brightest. North Dakotans should take advantage of this opportunity and invite all Americans to come see what our state has to offer.”
Gold Star families and military veterans will be granted free access to national parks, wildlife refuges and other federal lands managed by the Department of the Interior starting on Veterans Day this year and every day onward.
Entrance fees are also waived for fifth-grade students and their families from now until August 31, 2021. This allows fifth-grade students to make full use of the parks if they were unable to use the Every Kid Outdoors Annual 4th Grade Pass during the 2019-2020 academic year due to COVID-19.
