Halloween 2020. It was a COVID-19 fright. The North Dakota wind showed up. Some stayed in, others went to the movies, and a few participated in the time-honored tradition of trick-or-treating.
One thing for sure Halloween was different. Whatever people did, there was a buzz of gratitude in New Rockford that there even was a Halloween experience.
NR-S Sources of Strength students added to the buzz with a Trick-or-Treat Food Drive. This generosity campaign has been in the works for the past month at the weekly Sources of Strength’s meetings. Students felt the community would definitely contribute and enjoy doing so. The kids were right!
SOS students collected over 700 non-perishable items from New Rockford residents in just a couple of hours on Halloween night. High winds couldn't stop 17 kids in grades 7-12 from pounding the pavement, going door to door, collecting those non-perishables. Many residents placed items on their porch, and others called the kids directly to come pick up food. Thank YOU New Rockford.
