Jodi Lynn Carlson, age 58, died peacefully Nov. 6, 2020, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, N.D., surrounded by family.
Private funeral service was held Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020 at First Lutheran Church, New Rockford. Burial was held at the Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford. Pastor Amy Kippen officiated with special music by Kerstin Allmaras and Amy Gedrose. Honorary bearers were Nicole Wald, Jenna Helseth, Monica Miller, Tracy Allmaras, Lindsey Vogeler, Michael Gedrose, Amy Gedrose and Jordan Gedrose. Special pall barriers were Lydia Lewis and Clara Lewis.
Jodi was born on Feb. 5, 1962, in New Rockford, N.D., to Milton (Mike) and Marlys Lura. Growing up,
Jodi enjoyed spending time on the farm with her father. She graduated from New Rockford High School in 1980. She continued her education at Moorhead State University in Moorhead, Minn., graduating with an Associate's Degree.
She later moved back to New Rockford and married Jon Jury Sept. 13, 1983. On Feb. 28th, 1989, Jodi and former husband Jon welcomed their daughter Megan to the world. Jodi's career path through real estate and office managing later led her to meeting and marrying her former husband Johnny Carlson on Dec. 2, 2006. Jodi opened Three Sisters Quilt Shop in 2008 in New Rockford.
On June 17, 2011 Jodi was diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma. She started her treatment at Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo, N.D. Through her battle, she truly lived life to the fullest and made many memories. Jodi loved spending time with family and her two granddaughters.
Jodi is survived by her daughter Megan (Derrick) Lewis of Fargo, N.D.; sisters Patrice (Duane) Gedrose of Washburn, N.D. and Denise (Kenny) Reis, New Rockford, N.D.; her granddaughters Lydia and Clara Lewis, Fargo, N.D. and her eight nieces and nephews.
Jodi was preceded in death by her parents.
