Carl Jerome Gillig, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020 at CHI St. Alexius Health, Carrington, N.D.
Funeral service was held Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020 at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford. Pastor Jeff Halvorson officiated the service. Honorary bearers were Rodney Larson, Jerry Larson, Bud Duursma, Felix Littlewind, Raymond Dunn, Joseph Dunn, Eric Walker and Duane Brown. Military honors were provided by Raymond B. Thorn American Legion, Post #30, New Rockford, N.D. and Air Force Funeral Honors Team.
Carl was born on Dec. 1, 1940 to Eva and Martin Gillig at New Rockford, N.D. He grew up and went to school in New Rockford. Carl joined the Army and later reenlisted in the Air Force. He retired from the Air Force after many years of service.
He is survived by his wife Shirley, Sheyenne, N.D.; step-daughters, Sherry (Eric Walker) Larson and Sara (Joseph) Dunn, both Jamestown, N.D.; grandchildren Felix, Breanna, Shayle, and Raymond; great-grandsons, Maeson and Hayden; sisters, Irene (Bud) Duursma, Carrington, N.D., Donna (Elmer) Pebble, Belton, TX, and Linda Bryant, Wahpeton, N.D.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Evelyn, son Carl Jr., and grandson, Jerome Dunn.
