Rockets split with Rolla

Morgan Leas and Rylee Hanlan combined for 35 of the Rolla Bulldogs' 51 points to help them take a six-point home win over the New Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets to give the school near the border their first win of the season in five attempts.

Five three-pointers from Kennedy Demester were ultimately not enough for NR-S in defeat, and those represented all 15 of her team-leading points. Mya Cudworth added 13 points for the Rockets.

Three days after facing one team from the Turtle Mountain foothills, NR-S had much more success against the team on the southern part of Rolette County.

The Rockets cruised to a leisurely 60-26 win over the Rolette Comets, buoyed by the performances of three double-figure scorers, and improved to 3-4 overall.

Freshman Kelsie Belquist's 17 points were followed by a repeat 15-point night by Demester, and Kayahna Hopfauf added 10 points in NR-S' score sheet.

The Comets (3-3) got six points from Sierra Heinz and five by Eva Tastad.

NR-S hosts Cavalier on Tuesday for non-region play starting with C-squad at 4:30, and return to District 7 action with another home matchup with Benson County on Friday, also an A-B-C slate at 4:30.
