NR-S sneaks past Wildcats by 8

The New Rockford Sheyenne Rockets defeated the Benson County Wildcats 49-41 on Friday evening.

Seniors Chloe Heinz and Dani Bjerke led the Rockets with 12 points each. Kelsie Belquist also scored in the double digits with 11 total points.

Also putting up points for the Rockets were Kennedy Demester and Mya Cudworth, both with six. Kayahna Hopfauf contributed four in the last quarter.

Benson County's Desidy Schwanke put up a trio of three-pointers to bring the end of the first half to 31-27. The Rocket girls weren't going to give up that easily though.

Schwanke held the lead for the Wildcats with 21 total points. She drilled four three-pointers throughout the four quarters. Along in the double figures was Quinn Neppl who scored 12 total points. Neppl fouled out during the fourth quarter after receiving a charge call against Rocket forward Chloe Heinz.

This week the New Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets will take on Drake-Anamoose (A,B) on Monday, Barnes County North (A,B) on Thursday. Both games will be held at the New Rockford-Sheyenne gymnasium. On Friday, they will head to Steele to take on the Kidder County Wolves (A,B).
