New NDDOT kiosk in Carrington offers vehicle license tabs on the spot

A new kiosk installed at Leevers Foods in Carrington will allow vehicle owners to scan vehicle registration renewal cards and receive their new tags on the spot.

The Carrington location was one of seven additional units the North Dakota Department of Transportation installed last week following 17 that were opened earlier.

The seven included Kenmare, Beach, Rugby, Langdon, Valley City, Ellendale and Carrington. Future sites in Central North Dakota include Harvey, McClusky, Jamestown, Fort Totten, Devils Lake and Rolla.

In a news release from the NDDOT, the kiosk unit was explained.

"The terminals are a fully automated motor vehicle registration renewal station that will dispense license plate renewal registration cards and motor vehicle tabs on the spot.

"A vehicle owner can navigate through the easy touch screen (voice assistance available) and will need an invoice number from your mailed invoice OR title number and plate number. Once the payment has been submitted and the transaction is complete, the vehicle's renewed registration card and tab are dispensed directly from the machine. The terminals will be available during regular business hours at the participating locations.

"The SST allows vehicle owners to register their vehicle(s) up to 60 days prior to their expiration. Acceptable forms of payment are restricted to credit cards (American Express, Master Card, VISA, Discover, and pin-less Debit cards).

If you renewed at a kiosk but did not receive your registration card, please contact Intellectual Technology Inc. (ITI) at 833-939-1576."

NDDOT further explains, "This installation is part of an ongoing process to add 44 new locations and increase the options customers have when doing business with the NDDOT. The new self-service terminals will have several features which the previous models were not equipped with including the addition of driver license services starting this spring."

"At the NDDOT, we strive to provide innovative solutions to the citizens of North Dakota," said NDDOT Director Bill Panos. "These self-service terminals will greatly enhance our ability to service our customers and provide them more flexibility when conducting business during this pandemic."

In the future, the terminals will also include devices for blind and low vision citizens to navigate the screens. Citizens will be able to plug in their headphones to hear what is displayed on the screen. NDDOT will be the first in the country to receive this technology.

Residents may also renew motor vehicle motor vehicles online or at a Motor Vehicle branch office site located throughout the state or by mail.

Customers needing to register a new vehicle should visit a Motor Vehicle Branch Office; Devils Lake is the closest to Eddy County residents.
