Residents of Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd and tenants of the Heritage House had a Happy Easter courtesy of a local service organization, an area small business and the Easter Bunny himself. The acts of kindness bestowed upon the residents and staff were well received.
Members of the New Rockford Lions Club were the first to arrive, bearing bright Easter balloons and bags of Hershey's kisses. They made their way around delivering a little joy to all on March 29.
On Thursday, April 1, the Easter Bunny himself made the rounds with "carrots," made of plastic bags filled with Cheese Puffs. Both staff and residents were treated that day.
Then on Friday, April 2, Hope and Briley Carr of Lioness filled their vehicle with special Easter gifts for all the residents of LHGS and tenants of Heritage House. The special store promotion offered people the chance to adopt a resident for $20. Lioness then matched each donation and prepared a package valued at $40.
The Carrs loaded up all the gifts in their car and hand-delivered the gifts to all just in time for Easter. All who donated funds for the promotion received a text message or email with a photo of the gift package that had been prepared in their name.
"Thank you to Hope Carr, owner of Lioness, for bringing so much happiness to our residents this Easter holiday! Your attention to detail and ability to provide the most perfectly tailored gifts to everyone was spot on!" LHGS posted to their Facebook page.
Visitors are welcome at LHGS by appointment. A limit of two visitors at a time are allowed for up to three hours. To schedule a visit, call (701) 947-2944.
