Spring is the season when life is renewed. One important way to help renew life is to give blood at the New Rockford blood drive on Thursday, May 27 at St. John’s Catholic Church from 1:30 to 6:00 p.m. Appointments are encouraged to keep donors socially distanced. Face masks/coverings are required. Each blood donation can help multiple patients such as preemies, surgery patients, and cancer patients... Just think, it could be someone you love.
Living through a pandemic has lead to many uncertainties, although one thing we are sure of, is that the need for blood never ceases. Blood can be stored for only 42 days, so a continuous fresh supply is always needed and can only come from volunteer blood donors. Anyone may need blood at any time. In the event of an accident, serious illness or surgery, an adequate blood supply can mean the difference between life and death.
To sign up to help save a life, contact Sharon Lesmeister at (701) 947-2728 to make an appointment or go to http://www.vitalant.org.
To save time, donors can now fill out their Fast Track online, on their computer or smartphone, by visiting http://www.vitalant.org/health the day of their donation. Volunteer blood donors must at least be 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Additional height/weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger, and donors who are 16 must have a signed Vitalant permission form from a parent or guardian. Please postpone your donation if you are feeling unwell or suspect you may have COVID-19. Individuals must be symptom free for at least 14 days to be eligible to give blood.
