Tractor gutted by fire

On the evening of Tuesday, May 4, The New Rockford Fire Department was called to a field in Munster Township west of town. Ed O'Connor was plowing when the tractor he was operating started on fire. O'Connor was able to escape without injury and snap the above photo. By the time firemen extinguished the flames, all that remained of the tractor was a mess of mangled metal (left). The cause of the fire was not known as of press time.
