Have you seen the gazebo downtown? New Rockford-Sheyenne students in kindergarten through 12th grades have taken the opportunity to express their "courage" through art. The Courage Project is the brainchild of art teacher Erin Radke and Superintendent Jill Louters.
Expressing and identifying feelings through art has been a theme throughout this trying school year in Ms. Radke's art classes. Showing up everyday, wearing a mask, social distancing, and spending the entire school day with just a few classmates has been challenging and stressful for all. Art gives students opportunities to find peace. To celebrate having the courage to make it through an entire school year during a pandemic, the entire student body had the opportunity to decorate a lantern with an encouraging theme. Students in grades K - 5 walked to the center of town on Friday, May 21 and decorated Centennial Park with their lanterns.
