Terah Weisenberger of New Rockford was chosen as the 2021 DAISY award winner at CHI St. Alexius Health Carrington. Weisenburger is a registered nurse who works in surgical services and has been a member of the CHI St. Alexius Health Carrington family for over seven years. This is the second time she has been selected for this award, as she was also recognized in 2017. The winning nomination came from one of Weisenburger's patients. This is what that patient had to say, "Terah always makes me feel good about myself. You can tell that Terah loves her job and that she is very compassionate and caring... I don't have just one situation that Terah has helped me or went above and beyond the call of her duties. Terah goes above and beyond every single time I come to the clinic."
The DAISY Foundation was established in 1999 by the Patrick Barnes family. Patrick died after an eight-week illness from an auto-immune disease. The family wanted a way to say thank you to the wonderful nurses that provided extraordinary care to Patrick and their family every day. So, the family created the DAISY award. DAISY is an acronym for Disease Attacking the Immune System. The DAISY award has developed into a meaningful recognition program that has been adopted by many healthcare organizations around the world. Nurses are nominated for this award by patients and family members of patients for extraordinary care they have received.
