Talk of the Town: June 7, 2021

Area folks extend sympathy to the family of Lori Himmelberger.

Brief visitors one afternoon at the Candy Jensen home were Rick Koepplin and his granddaughter, who were enroute to Bismarck to visit his son Rick Jr. and family.

Saturday visitors at the Janet Laube home were MarJean Pfau and her sister Emily.

The Shirley Packard home was abuzz over the Memorial Day weekend with family guests and visitors throughout, one being her daughter Cindy Toben of South Dakota. Cindy picked up her brother, Craig Packard, at his home in Anoka, Minn., and they journeyed to New Rockford. Shirley’s sister Vida Klocke arrived from Underwood. The gals enjoyed lunch at the Hiway Drive In in Carrington. Todd Harrison and Calvin Packard were joined by Craig, and they enjoyed Sunday and Monday breakfasts at the Rockford Café. On Sunday, they all attended the high school graduation of Alex Harrison at the New Rockford-Sheyenne gym, and a reception for Alex at the American Legion. Sunday evening, Vida and Cindy cooked up a storm and all enjoyed supper at Shirley’s. Saturday also found them all visiting Prairie Home Cemetery, replacing decorations the wind had carried away. Vida left for her home later on Monday, as did Cindy and Craig.

Jay and Heidi Schneider, Caleb and Callie brought goodies already made for dinner to the Eloise Lucht home on Thursday, along with flowers for the cemetery.

Memorial Day, Janet Laube and YipYip were pleasantly surprised by visits from niece Robin Westall, and grandson Travis Laube and friend Malissa, all of Fargo. Phone calls from her sister-in-law Lois Ockert of Fargo, and niece Shelly Nelson of Oklahoma, and a special visit from neighbor Beverly Koepplin and Charlie rounded out the day.

Amanda Bickett picked up her parents Ken and Marvis Holte on Memorial Day, and they visited loved ones’ graves at Prairie Home Cemetery.

Mary Gehrtz was a Friday helper at the Shirley Packard home.

Calvin Packard was host at the Eddy County Museum over Memorial Day weekend.
