Marlys Ferguson, 86, of New Rockford, N.D., passed away on June 11, 2021 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford.
Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, June 14 at St. John's Catholic Church, New Rockford. Burial was held at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, New Rockford. Fr. Bernard Pfau officiated the service with special music by Heather Klocke. Casket bearers were Nathan Turcotte, Jared Balow, Casey Weber, Levi Weber, Tory Turcotte, Brenden Melvie, Connor Melvie, Devin Melvie, Jayden Ferguson, Cru Walker and Jack Ferguson. Honorary bearers were all of Marlys' grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and all the members of Marlys' prayer group.
Marlys Joyce Seiler was born on Nov. 18, 1934 to Joseph and Marian (Ulness) Seiler in New Rockford, N.D.
She graduated from St. James Academy High School in New Rockford, N.D. After she graduated, she went to Aakers Business College in Fargo, N.D. She met her husband, James Ferguson, at a dance. They were married in the Army Chapel at Camp Gordon, Ga., June 10, 1954, where James was stationed in the Army. After James' discharge from the Army, they moved to Carrington for a few years, until they began farming with her dad and her brother in New Rockford in 1960. This is where they raised their seven children.
Marlys worked at the ASCS office and also at St. James Grade School.
Marlys is survived by her children Kim Ferguson of Fargo, N.D.; Roxann (Loren) Melvie, of Bismarck, N.D.; Jill Weber of New Rockford, N.D.; Jewel Turcotte of Chanhassen, Minn.; Jay Ferguson of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Guy (Mandy) Ferguson of Bismarck, N.D. and Tye (Erin) Ferguson of Shakopee, Minn.; 22 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law Donna Seiler Enstad.
She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her mother and father-in-law, Kenneth and Violet Ferguson; brother Joseph Seiler (Junior); son-in-law Bradley Weber and grandson Dylan Turcotte.
