Black Sox continue winning ways against Jamestown Blues

New Rockford Post #30 travelled to regional opponent Jamestown on Friday, June 11, and split two five-inning games, winning the first game that counted toward the regional standings 4-2, and losing the second by the ten-run rule in four innings 10-0.

In the first game, Nick Berglund got the start for the Sox and pitched four innings for the win. Tyson Jorissen started for the Blues and took the loss.

NR scored the first run in the top of the second inning. Koby Duda walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. He scored on a wild pick-off throw to second and another throwing error. The Sox extended the lead in the third inning. NR loaded the bases when Alex Harrison singled on a line drive to right field, and Duda and Nick Berglund walked. Harrison scored on a wild pitch.

Jamestown came back in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game. Ashton Stockert reached second on a fielding error. He made it to third on a wild pitch. Leyton Kahler walked. Stockert scored and Kahler advanced to third on a single by Jacob Webster. Kahler scored on a walk by Berglund.

The go-ahead runs for the Sox were scored in the top of the fifth inning. Berglund and Duda started the inning off with walks. They both scored on a line drive up the middle by Hunter Jacobson.

That was all the runs that NR needed, Harrison came in at pitcher and closed the door on the Blues earning the save.

In the second game, Jamestown jumped on the Sox early and didn’t let up, scoring multiple runs in the first, third and fourth innings. The only base runner for the Sox was Connor Knatterud, who earned a lead-off walk, which was later erased on a double play.

Jamestown starter Ashton Stockert earned the win for the Blues and starter Koven Walford took the loss for the Black Sox.
