4th of July

The New Rockford Lions Club's brisket dinner on Saturday evening was a hit.They served all 140 lb. of meat by 7 p.m. All proceeds went to Wonder Lanes.

Entries in the New Rockford parade, which was held on Saturday, July 3, were up compared to the recent past. Ross Homelvig and Dylan Rossow of G & R Grain and Feed entered this scale model of their facility, pulled by an ATV. The American flag added a patriotic touch.

The Sheyenne Rodeo Club hosted the NDRA Sheyenne Stampede in Hendrickson Park on July 4. Complete with bulls, broncs, breakaway (ropers) and barrel (racers), this event kept spectators entertained for both the slack in the morning and performance in the afternoon. The afternoon performance rodeo began with a tribute to two major rodeo supporters in the area who died in the past year: Karen Peterson and Tom Wetzel. Peterson's memorial featured a riderless horse, while a galloping horse was ridden around the arena during Wetzel's tribute. This year's rodeo was dedicated to both. Above: Dalton Wells of Verndale, Minn. competed in the bull riding event, which was the grand finale of the performance rodeo.

The Sheyenne Community Band performed patriotic tunes with old-time flair during the Sheyenne Parade on Sunday, July 4. "Yankee Doodle" was among the favorites.
