Charlotte A. Skiftun, 80, Fessenden, N.D., passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021 at CHI-St. Alexius Health, Carrington, N.D.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 5 at First Lutheran Church, Fessenden. Pastors Shirley Teske and Rick Loewen officiated, and burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Fessenden, N.D.
Charlotte Ann Proefrock was born April 2, 1941 at Hamberg, N.D., the daughter of Alfred and Lillian (Simonson) Proefrock. She attended school in Hamberg. She later went to live with Roy and Leona Kuske at Emrick, N.D. She attended school in Emrick and later graduated from Fessenden High School in 1959. She started nurses training at the Trinity School of Nursing in Minot and later worked at St. John's Hospital in Fargo. Charlotte married Donald E. Skiftun on June 3, 1961 at First Lutheran Church in Fessenden. They lived on farms near Heimdal and Emrick until September of 1965, when they moved to the farm in South Cottonwood Township, where they farmed until Donald passed away in June of 2003. She later moved to Carrington.
Charlotte is survived by her children, Jason (Annette) Skiftun, Larry Skiftun, and Gina Skiftun, all of Fessenden, N.D., Stephanie (Jon) Polries, Sykeston, N.D. and Ellen (John) Lang, Bismarck, N.D., seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; companion Arthur Erfle, Carrington, N.D.; and his family, Lisa, Steve, Joni, and Mike (Brenda) Erfle; brothers, Marvin (Rami) Proefrock, Oxnard, Calif.; Larry (Loraine) Kaul, LaMoure, N.D.; Duane (Linda) Kaul, Bagley, Minn. and Raymond (Joyce) Kaul, Bismarck, N.D. and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Leona Kuske; husband Donald; daughter-in-law, Scarlet Skiftun; one grandson; brothers, Franklin, Robert, Ronald, LeRoy and Oris; sister Betty Washington, and foster brother Donald Kuske.
