The Rockets made the trek to Dunseith on Thursday, Oct. 7 to take on the Lady Dragons in their lair. The Lady Dragons started off hot by defeating the Rockets 25-23 in the first set, but their fire was vanquished for the next three sets. The Rockets defeated the Lady Dragons 3-1.
The Rockets made a total of 13 errors in the first set alone, but once they got back on their feet, the Rockets made only 11 errors throughout the next three sets.
Kelsie Belquist has had an amazing season so far for the Rockets. Belquist held a total of 23 digs, 16 kills and five aces against the Lady Dragons on Thursday night. She led the Rockets in digs and kills.
Kennedy Demester followed behind Belquist in digs with 20. Other top diggers from the Rockets were Kaiya O'Connor with 14, Delana Thomas with 11, Mya Cudworth with nine, Alexa Holth with five, Ava Peterson with four, and Madisen Myhre with one.
The Rockets had a total of 46 kills against the Lady Dragons, with 16 coming from Belquist. Cudworth and Myhre came in behind Belquist with ten each. Other top kills from the Rockets came from O'Connor with five, Macey Wobbema and Peterson each with two, and Demester with one.
The Rockets scored on a total of 14 aces, with the most coming from Demester who had a total of six. Belquist scored on five, Peterson on two and Cudworth on one.
O'Connor led the Rockets in assists with a total of 34, which is more than her average assists per game. Peterson had a total of three, Myhre and Demester each had two, and Thomas had one.
Myhre held the most blocks for the Rockets with a total of four. Peterson came in behind her with two, along with O'Connor, Belquist, Cudworth and Wobbema, who each had one.
The varsity team wasn't the only team that was victorious on Thursday night. The B-squad team defeated the Lady Dragons 25-5 in the first set, 25-20 in the second set, and 15-11 in the third set.
The eighth grade team defeated the Lady Dragons 25-19 in the first set, and 25-7 in the second set. The seventh grade team defeated the Lady Dragons 25-19 in the first set, and 25-14 in the second set.
