Rockets take charge

On Monday, Nov. 1, the Rockets traveled to McVille to take on the Nelson County Chargers (A,B,C,8,7) in their home gym. The Rockets defeated the Chargers 3-0.

With most errors on serves, the Rockets had a successful game. The Rockets took the first set 25-16, the second set 25-11 and the third set 25-16.

Kennedy Demester led the Rockets in digs with 21. Mya Cudworth also scored in the double digits with ten digs.

Other double digits scored for the Rockets came from Kelsie Belquist with her 10 kills, and Kaiya O'Connor with her 31 assists.

Along with Belquist's 10 kills, Cudworth scored on nine, Madisen Myhre scored on seven, Macey Wobbema and Ava Peterson scored on two each, and Maria Becker and Demester had one each.

The Rockets received a total of 16 aces against the Chargers. Peterson, Cudworth and Demester all tied with four each.

With the Rockets seeded number three in the region, no region play-in game was needed. The Rockets will play in the final match of the quarterfinals at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 8 in Devils Lake, taking on the winner of Thursday's Rolla vs. Four Winds/Minnewaukan play-in match.

As for Nelson County, they hosted the Rolette Comets on Thursday, Nov. 4 to determine who would move on to the regionals. The winner of that match up is slated to take on the number two seed, the Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich Cardinals.

The B-squad, C-squad and eighth grade teams were also victorious against the Chargers. The B-squad team defeated the Chargers in two (25-13, 25-17). The C-squad team won the first set 25-16, lost the second set 17-25, and came back to win the third set 20-18. The eighth grade team defeated the chargers in two (25-15, 25-11).

The seventh grade team lost to the chargers 9-25 in the first set and 24-26 in the second set.
