Corrine Vick-Zabel, 94 of Bismarck, passed away on Friday, Nov. 5, 2021, at Prospera on Sunset in Mandan.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at Sigdal Lutheran Church, rural Tolna N.D., with Reverend Stanley Kwiecien officiating. Burial was in the Sigdal Cemetery. Casket bearers for Corrine were Steve Frey, Rob Frey, Missy Ebertz, Dominic Ebertz Sr., Dominic Ebertz Jr. and Shayla Ebertz. Music was provided by Rod Frey, Laurie Spickler and Kendy Quam.

Corrine Sylvia Hovdenes was born on Jan. 26, 1927, the daughter of Berndt and Petra (Elgin) Hovdenes. She grew up in rural Hamar, attending a country school through the eighth grade. She was a lifelong member of Sigdal Lutheran Church. Besides helping on the family farm, she also worked for a number of years at the Tolna Café.

Corrine was united in marriage to August Vick on Jan. 10, 1948 in Devils Lake, and they established their home at rural Hamar. She was a devoted farm wife, working alongside her husband through the years. August died Jan. 7, 1981. Corrine remained on the farm for a number of years.

Corrine married Reuben Zabel in April of 1984, and they eventually established their home in Jamestown, N.D. They shared 19 years of marriage together. Reuben passed away on Nov. 6, 2003. In 2015, Corrine moved to Bismarck due to increasing health issues.

She was a life-long member of the Sons of Norway.

Corrine is survived by her children Garry (Lori Stevenson) Vick, Devils Lake, N.D. and Patty (Rod) Frey, Bismarck N.D.; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister Bernice Christiansen of Athena, Ore.; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands August and Reuben, and brother Jerome Hovdenes.
