Dallas Baumbach, 82, Hurdsfield, N.D. died on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021 at the CHI Oakes Community Hospital.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 22, at the Hurdsfield Community Center. Burial followed in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.
Dallas Arthur Baumbach was born on February 14, 1939 at Harvey, N.D. to Arthur and Leona (Schmitt) Baumbach. He grew up on the family farm near Chaseley, N.D. He attended the Sheyenne River Seventh-Day Adventist Academy in Harvey. He went on to complete his training in autobody work at Hanson Mechanical School in Fargo. Dallas was hired by Culp Autobody in New Rockford, and later by the Chevrolet Dealership, where he was instrumental in developing their autobody program. Dallas married Loretta Grager on July 20, 1963 in Carrington. While living in New Rockford, they started their family and later moved to Hurdsfield. He was a Bentz Implement salesman in Harvey for a time before starting his own autobody shop in Hurdsfield. His retirement from working on cars was brief because he became employed by Hurdsfield Grain for a number of years. Dallas and Loretta recently moved to Oakes to be near family. Dallas was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Dallas is survived by his wife, Loretta of Oakes; daughters, Lori (Dave) Novak of Oakes, N.D., Brenda (Tim) Rhone of Bismarck, N.D. and Wendy (Mitch) Erfle of Scottsdale, Ariz.; son, Avolt (Jen) of New Rockford, N.D.; nine grandchildren, Kelly (Michelle) Rexine, Chad (Cindy) Rexine, Kayla (Logan) Hanson, Cassandra (Tim) Perkins, Zachary (Kayla) Rhone, Amanda (Chadrick) Outcalt; David Erfle, Bailey Baumbach, and Beau Baumbach; four step-grandchildren, Alysha Novak, Sam Zikmund, Kandice Novak, Shayla Novak; 12 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; brother, Gary (Becky) of Spiritwood, N.D.; special nephew Kevin (Diane) Baumbach, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Dallas was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jordell Baumbach; great-granddaughter, Laken Rexine; special nephew Robert and his wife Deb Baumbach.
