Middle school spellers were back in the courthouse testing their skills in the Eddy County Spelling Bee on Wednesday, Feb. 9.
Three students from each grades 5-8 advanced to the county competition during classroom rounds earlier in the month.
Eighth grader Bailey Baumbach eclipsed all in the oral round to earn the title County Champion. A pair of fifth graders were right behind her. Austin Weisenburger was runner-up, and will join Baumbach at state. Everett Wiedrich is the alternate.
