The New Rockford-Sheyenne club volleyball 16s team kicked off their first tournament on Saturday, March 12 in Minot at Our Redeemers’ High School.
NR-S was in Pool A, which consisted of Minot Power, LRVA 16’s Blue, Minot Magic and Thompson. Pool B consisted of Linton, Bishop Ryan, LRVA 16s Black, Hazen and Minot Force.
Tournaments were also going on over at Nedrose High School with 17/18s divisions. Pool A consisted of Linton, Minot Force and Bishop Ryan. Pool B consisted of Minot Power, LRVA 18s and Hazen.
The first match of the day for NR-S was against Minot Power. NR-S took one set and Minot Power took the other.
Next up on the schedule was Thompson. NR-S was defeated by Thompson in both sets.
The third match of the day was against Minot Magic. NR-S and Minot Magic split both sets.
The final match of pool play was against the LRVA 16s Blue. NR-S pulled away in both sets to defeat LRVA, to finish second in Pool A.
NR-S moved on to compete in the Gold Bracket of tournament play. NR-S was set to play Minot Force, and lost two-of-three sets.
The NR-S 16s team will travel to Jamestown on Sunday, March 27 to compete in the Jamestown Tournament. The NR-S 14s team will also be in Jamestown on Sunday, March 27, but will be competing in the Power League on the Prairie Tournament.
The 14s team will travel and compete in the Jamestown Tournament on Saturday, March 26.
The 4th-6th grade team will kick off their season on Thursday, March 24 in the NR-S gym against Binford starting at 4:30 p.m.
