Mildred Symonds
Anchorage, Alaska
Mildred Monette Symonds (Mo) passed away February 13, 2022 at 8:15am at Alaska Regional Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. Mildred was born to Neil and Willie Mae (Boring) Proctor on February 24, 1952 in Johnson City, Tenn. Mo attended Cypress High School and later in life, went back to obtain her GED.
Mo loved to garden, do crafts, travel, watch cooking shows and especially watching the competition show Forged In Fire. She worked various jobs throughout her life, the majority of them being in retail sales. She also had several certifications with FEMA for EMS and First Responder in Crisis situations. Out of all the places she lived, Samoa and Alaska held the biggest place in her heart and was talked about with great passion. In the last few years, she did a lot of volunteer work with the local Food Pantry, Helping Hands Thrift Store and her home church, Great Land Worship Center.
Mo was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2021, but this did not stop her from doing what she loved to do. You might say it made her stronger - especially her faith in God. Through all her treatments and appointments, her humor and goofy side would brighten up the gloomiest day and remained intact and made everyone's day brighter just by being in her presence. Mo was truly loved by all she came in contact with and will be dearly missed.
Mo is survived by her children: Terry (Nikki) Sudburry, Grant (Tana) Sudburry, Cassandra (Wayne) Lester, Marianda (Dan) Corun, Trinity (Justin) Jackson-Evans, Zachary Jackson and Preston (Maranda) Symonds; her Siblings: Annette (Lonnie) Holt, Noris (Nancy) Proctor and Donette (Jeff) Proctor Guthmiller; all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mo is preceded in death by both parents, her mother and father-in-law, her husband Terry Symonds, her two sisters: Vonette Holt and Joyce Lynette Hendrickson, and her brother Melvin Proctor.
