New coach, new season, new athletes

Jensen takes first at Belcourt Indoor after taking two-year break

Spring is here, which means track and field has also begun. But this year’s track and field season is much different from last year.

When notice was given that previous track and field coach, Cherry Heinz, had put in her resignation, NR-S athletic director, Elliott Belquist, stepped up and offered to take the position.

In just a year, the track and field team has doubled in numbers. There were a total of 17 track and field athletes last year. As of March 23, 2022 there are 40 student athletes enrolled in track and field in grades 7-12.

The Rockets started the season off at the Belcourt Indoor on Tuesday, March 22.

The Rockets boys and girls teams excelled in Belcourt, with multiple athletes receiving first through eighth places. Let’s start off with the boys team.

After taking two years off from track, NR-S senior, Kaden Jensen, is back and ready for his final season.
