Just a note - do the people up here understand they are so different from most of those around the big cities??
I moved here from South Carolina three years ago after my wife died - it's my Norwegian grandparents home from 1905. I put a house on that old site and absolutely love my friends here and the area's beauty.
Example - a package was delivered to Sykeston by mistake, and tonight a guy and his daughter drove it all the way up here to me. I am terribly embarrassed I didn't invite them inside - I guess I was just so flabbergasted that I didn't show the hospitality I should have.
His name was Dan and last name was sort of like Gubrensen???
In any case, I've moved between states seven times before my move here and I've never been happier, mostly because of people like that guy and his daughter.
Yes, there are opportunities in larger metropolitan areas - but from one who has been there done that - North Dakota and its people are outstanding.
Just wanted to say so and wish I could apologize to Dan and his daughter for not asking them in.

P.S. - I live straight west of N. Rockford three miles before you get to Highway 30 - the bridge crossing the James River is known as the Winsness Bridge.
