Who is the American Legion Auxiliary?

The American Legion Auxiliary is one of the largest veteran support organizations in the world, in more than 8,000 local communities in the USA. In the spirit of "Service, Not Self," the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support The American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve-by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military, and their families, both at home and abroad. For God and Country, we advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth, and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace and security. Patriotism and veterans advocacy are so important to the American Legion Auxiliary that for over a century, we've been serving, educating and giving to America's finest-our servicemen and women. We answer the call of "Service, Not Self."

• Why join? If you value patriotism, responsible citizenship, volunteerism and advocacy for veterans, the military and their families, you will feel right at home in the American Legion Auxiliary. As a member of a local Auxiliary unit, you'll have a ready-made support system and many hands-on opportunities to serve in ways that truly make a difference.

• Who can join? If you are the mothers, grandmothers, sisters, male and female spouses and direct and adopted female descendants (daughters and granddaughters) of members of the American Legion and of all men and women who served our great country in the military from April 6, 1917 to Nov. 11, 1918 or any time after Dec. 7, 1941, to the date of cessation of hostilities as determined by the Government of the United States, you are eligible to become a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. And we'd love for you to be a part of our mission outreach.
