Welcome summer 2022! Visitors are reminded about the historic treasures that await you in your own backyard. Fort Totten State Historic Site, located in Fort Totten, N.D., just south of Devils Lake, is just one of many historic places in North Dakota. With over 150 years of history, this historic site was used as a military post built in 1867. Many of the buildings have been restored and are complete with wonderful exhibits. Also included at the Fort, is the Fort Totten Trail Inn, a 10 bedroom B & B. A perfect spot for family gatherings, quilters, scrapbookers, birders and friends. Guests have full access to the house, which includes a complete kitchen, the dining room/parlor, game room, library and more. The Inn is a part of the fort and also has historic charm and artifacts to enhance the guest’s experience. If you are looking for some fun for this summer, guests are invited to visit the Fort for the following special events:
• June 12 – Noon to 5 p.m. Lake Region Drum Group, 2 – 4 p.m .; Sweet Prairie Food Truck available all day; Tours of the Fort and the Inn; Door prizes for those who tour.
• June 19 – Bring a picnic lunch to celebrate Father’s Day; Fort and Inn tours; Devils Lake Community Orchestra from 2 – 3 p.m. Door prizes for those who tour.
• June 26 – Noon to 6 p.m. – Tours of the Fort and the Inn, with door prizes. Music by Rick Senger from 2 – 4 p.m. and musical selections from the performers of The Jersey Boys at 4 p.m. Sweet Prairie Food Truck will also be on site for guests to purchase burgers, tacos, loaded fries, smoked brisket sandwich, mac-n-cheese, fried apple pie rolls and more! Come for the afternoon and enjoy the Fort and all it has to offer.
