Touchless car wash to open in New Rockford this summer
Rocket Wash, New Rockford's first automatic, touchless car wash, is coming soon.
Zach and Lauren Fleming of New Rockford and Eastern Eddy County residents Mark and Lisa Becker are the owners, and they're ready to bring locals a new solution to get the grime off their car, pickup or SUV.
Plans have been in place for months, and they've waited patiently for the right conditions to break ground.
"Obviously, weather has really impacted that, and is still impacting that," Zach Fleming said. "We need to get the base of the building poured before we can build."
Dirt work began at the site, just south of Casey's General Store on the west side of the U.S. Hwy. 281, about 10 days ago.
Fleming said they expect to open the car wash sometime this summer, hopefully by August. A vacuum will be added outside in the near future, and a self-serve bay may come at a later date.
The wash equipment, which is manufactured by Washworld, Inc. of DePere, Wisc., is fully programmable. "We are expected to be able to fit a long box crew cab dually pickup" inside the touchless wash, Fleming said. They also intend to experiment with a wash option for fully enclosed side-by-side ATVs.
Wash packages will range from $9 to $14, depending on how many services chosen by the customer. Some of the "extras" include an underbody wash and wheel/rocker panel cleaner. The wash has sensors that adapt the wand to the size of your vehicle.
Even the structure itself is novel. They chose the Nuform building, a patented polymer-based formwork for concrete walls that won't rot or corrode. The result is permanent, attractive and maintenance free.
"The structure was chosen for longevity," Fleming said. While the wash equipment has a lifespan, the building will withstand the constant use of water and exposure to the elements.
According to Fleming, the company has structures from the 1970s that are still in use. And with the price of lumber rising due to inflation, the Nuform structure is now competitive price wise with a stick frame building, making his decision to go maintenance-free a lot easier.
