The New Rockford-Sheyenne golf team competed in two golf meets this past week; Wednesday, May 18 at Rose Creek in Fargo and Monday, May 23 at Cross Roads Golf Club in Carrington.
At Rose Creek, Kage Walford (45-42-87) and Jackson Schumacher (44-43-87) were the top placers, with both tying with a final score of 87. Walford finished in 12th place, with Schumacher following in 13th.
Other NR-S golfers to compete were Dashyl Bichler (51-53-104) finishing in 44th, Bennett Meier (47-59-106) in 46th and Shaun Reimche (47-62-109) placing 48th.
Overall, the Rockets placed seventh out of 10 teams.
Monday, May 23 was the final region qualifier meet for the Rockets. With just five points shy, Schumacher (40-44-84) scored an 84, missing his last opportunity at the state golf meet at Oxbow on May 31-June 1. Schumacher tied for 21st place out of 52 golfers.
Walford (42-47-89) tied for 32nd place, Reimche (24-50-98) tied for 44th place and Meier (51-50-101) tied for 48th place.
NR-S took ninth place overall out of 10 teams.
The Rockets' ended their season on a high note, with hopes of attending the state golf meet in years to come. The team is quite young, and has plenty of years to reach that goal.
