Official Newspaper of Eddy County since 1883
For the first time ever, Eddy County has its own website.
Earlier this year, the county launched its first web page, http://www.eddycountynd.org, so that residents would have a place to go for everything Eddy County - including events, news, office hours and much more.
Before the new website, limited information for the county was crammed into a single tab on the City of New Rockford’s web page. Now, everything residents need to know is located on its own, easy-to-navigate website.
Eddy County Public Information Officer, Tiffany Harr, said the process started when county commissioners approached her about launching their own website back in 2021, believing it would help residents access additional information much easier.
“We just thought it’d be easier for our county,” said Commission Chairperson Glenda Collier. “And we wanted to put more information on there: all the boards, all the minutes, when the meetings are and something about each office.”
On the website’s homepage, users will immediately see news and announcements, hours for the courthouse and upcoming events. Further down on the page, there’s a list of quick links and even a small weather forecast.
At the very top of the page, a list of tabs is available to direct users to even more useful information.
Under the “Departments” tab is a list of pages for every department in the county, each one complete with contact info., office hours and important links and documents.
The “Commission” page, for example, includes the names and contact info. of each county commissioner, meeting dates for their monthly meetings, and the minutes from the commission’s previous regular and special meetings.
There’s also a tab that provides answers for frequently asked questions - such as “How do I get on the commission agenda,” and “How can I find out if Eddy County is under a burn ban?”
All totaled, the new website offers much more information for Eddy County residents, and does so in a streamlined way, making it easy to locate information and answer any questions residents may have.
“It’s more easily read, to look at and to find information on how to do things within the county,” said Harr about the new website. She added that the site is averaging 100 visits and 500 page views per day.
As the county’s Public Information Officer, Harr is in charge of keeping the website up to date with all the latest information, events and news for the county. She said she’s encouraging residents and organizations to reach out if they’ve got information they’d like to see included.
“I am always looking for ideas or photos if anyone would like to submit them,” she said. Harr is available by email at [email protected] or by phone at (701) 947-2434 ext. 2014.”
