No boost left for the Chargers

The New Rockford-Sheyenne junior high/junior varsity football teams hosted the Nelson County Chargers on Monday, Sept. 12 for their last home game of the season.

The junior high team kicked off the game in high gear, with a touchdown from NR-S running back, Sawyer Huso.

But this wasn't the only time fans heard the name "Sawyer Huso."

Huso proceeded to score two more touchdowns for the Rockets. His speed and small stature aided in most, if not all, of these touchdowns. Huso was able to slip through the hands of many defenders during this game.

Also scoring a touchdown for the Rockets was eighth-grader Thomas Allmaras.

The Rockets only allowed two touchdowns from the Chargers, to take a 32-12 win.

As for the junior varsity game, Nelson County's team wasn't going to give up that easily. Any fumble the Rockets had, the Chargers were picking them up and taking charge. But it just wasn't enough.

Keaton Cudworth weaved his way through defenders to score the first touchdown of the game.

This brought momentum up for the Rockets. Third quarter came around and defensive back Luke Yri leaped into the air to intercept a pass.

In the fourth and final quarter, NR-S freshman, Jackson Schumacher, pushed through the Chargers defensive line to score the final touchdown of the game.

The Rockets defeated the Chargers 14-0.

The junior high and junior varsity teams start their final trek of away games in Larimore on Monday, September 19 to take on the Larimore Polar Bears starting at 4:30 p.m.
