Rockets earn Region wins at home

During the game on Thursday, Oct. 6 against Dunseith, the Rockets bench fell to the floor after Kelsie Belquist earned a kill.

After being out due to an ankle injury, NR-S senior Madisen Myhre, stepped back onto the court on Monday night, during the Super Region 4 matchup against the FW/M Lady Indians.

The New Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets hosted the Dunseith Lady Dragons on Thursday, Oct. 6 in the NR-S gymnasium.

With the Lady Dragons having no Super Region 4 wins, the Rockets knew they would have a good chance of earning another win.

The first set started off with NR-S libero, Kyria Dockter, at the serving line. Dockter served six times in a row, earning four aces. With an error on a hit, the Lady Dragons received the ball back.

And that's how the rest of the game went. After receiving the ball back, Ava Peterson was sent to the serving line to score two aces.

Overall, the Rockets scored 18 points alone on aces. Also scoring aces for the Rockets were Kelsie Belquist and Lucy Meier.

The Rockets had very minor errors during this game, namely in the coverage area.

Belquist and Meier were the main hitters for the Rockets; Belquist scored 12 and Meier scored seven kills. Also securing kills for the Rockets were Lora Wobbema and Logan Cudworth, each with four, and Kaiya O'Connor and Peterson, each with two.

On Monday, Oct. 10, the Rockets hosted the Four Winds/Minnewaukan Lady Indians.

This game was very similar to the game versus Dunseith the previous week. The only changes were NR-S senior, Madisen Myhre, was back in action, and junior, Lora Wobbema, sat out due to an injury in her abdomen.

The Rockets blew past the Lady Indians in the first set, sweeping them 25-6.

Sets two and three looked just the same, with the Rockets winning 25-10 in the second and 25-9 in the third.

Kelsie Belquist led the Rockets in both digs and kills with 11 and 13, respectively.

Also in double digits for the Rockets was Kaiya O'Connor with 19 assists.

Leaders for the Lady Indians were Lanehya Malnourie with 6 kills, Ava Gourd and Jaela Yankton each with four digs and Previous McKay with four assists.
